Candle Care

How to best enjoy your hand poured soy wax candles!

Follow these tips to increase the longevity of your candles and to keep everything safe! These tips can be used for any candle you may own

ON YOUR FIRST BURN, ALLOW THE WAX TO MELT TO THE EDGES OF THE JAR

  • the time it takes depends on the size of your candle, it may take 2-3 hours

ALWAYS TRIM YOUR WICK TO 1/4 INCH BETWEEN BURNS

  • pro-tip, the most important is to make sure the "mushroom" on the end of the wick is trimmed
  • by trimming your wick, the flame will stay at a small, controlled height and won't soot or produce excess smoke
  • this is the best way to ensure a safe burn as the melt pool will grow at a controllable rate

IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED TO USE THE LID TO SNUFF THE CANDLES

  • the lids are not designed to snuff your candles, the safest way is to blow out the candle and let the smoke clear before putting the lid back on
  • snuffing the candle with lids leaves a smokey scent on the candle and actually changes the smell of your candle
  • the jars are reusable and if taken proper care of, can have a variety of future uses. Using the lid to snuff the candle can blacken the jar and reduce the ability to re-use the jars

NEVER EXCEED 4 HOURS OF CONTINUOUS BURNING

  • to ensure your candle stays safe, do not exceed four hours of burning
  • snuff out your candle when the melt pool is about 1/2 inch

DO NOT BURN TO THE BOTTOM OF THE VESSEL

  • your candle is finished when there is about a centimetre of wax at the bottom

ALWAYS KEEP YOUR BURNING CANDLE WITHIN EYESIGHT

  • keep candles out of reach of children or pets
  • do not fall asleep while burning candles
